Jewelry Giveaway

So, as many of you know I’ve been making chain maille jewelry in my spare time.  Ha!  I can even type the words “spare time” without snickering to myself! I guess I just sort of fit it in where ever I can!  It’s an awful lot of fun for me and keeps my fidgity  hands busy and my mind creative!  I keep getting the auto correct line.  Is fidgit not a word?!

Anyway, my friend Jennifer writes a fabulous unschooling blog about her experiences called The Path Less Taken.  She recently reached 1000 fans on Facebook and is celebrating by having a big giveaway on her blog!  I have a pair of earrings up for grabs and also a 15% off coupon code for the month of August.  Hop on over to grab the code and instructions on entering the giveaway!

Winner of the Cafe Press Holiday Card Giveaway

I finally went Christmas Shopping last night.  This year, we decided less presents, more experiences and togetherness.  But that didn’t stop me from buying more nerf darts and my very own sneak attack gun.  Now, they will NEVER see me coming!  MUWAHAHA!

Well, we should probably get right to the point huh?  I’ve got presents to wrap!

Weekend Wisdom

Things have slowed down for December.  I haven’t been to Goodwill in awhile.  I haven’t listed anything on Craigslist, with the exception of the Suburban, in quite some time.  I was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with the million and one things I wanted to do and the holidays coming.  So, I stopped.  That’s right, I just stopped.  I watch my husband work himself until he’s a freaking zombie sometimes and I think I am incredibly lucky to be able to stop what I’m doing when my body says…   “that’s enough”. I feel incredibly grateful to have a guy who is willing to do that for us, yet sort of sad because he is giving up a lot of could-be passions for us, like training and writing.

Anytown Devil

Frankly, we miss him during the day.  He’s awesome.  Why wouldn’t we want to hang out more? I’ve recently decided that I want to start contributing to our family’s income among a few other projects.  I was having trouble getting going and setting goals.  For me, it’s not always hard to finish something, it’s hard to start.  So I joined a team of other moms who are all supporting each other through dreams and goals and just helpng with some genuine “girl power”.  Not a lot of that girl stuff goin’ on in my house, ha!

Visionary Mom

I have this vision of of TJ driving the RV, the kids giggling in the back, and me in the passenger seat knitting.  Although, I know it won’t be always giggly and I’m not that good at knitting.  Holes, I knit a lot of holes, and not on purpose!  I think it’s just my inexperience. My cousin Kelly Eels is not inexperienced.  She knits the most AMAZING things.  Check out her yarn dying business at:

The Unique Sheep

My scarves are turning out, OK.  Just a little sad.  On the other hand, I’m getting good at knitting backwards.  Yes.  Undoing, what I’ve already done because of mistakes.

In happy news, my facebook page for my blog passed 400 yesterday!  Amazing!

SwissArmyWife

We have visitors coming next week.  We are ALL very excited!  I’m sort of wishing I owned a place like this to put them up in!  I love fifties era stuff, and this makes me want to live there!

The Shady Dell

I’m also working with Cafe Press to bring you an awesome giveaway!  Check it out.

Custom Holiday Card Giveaway

I hope you all enjoy your lovely weekend.  It’s looking like I might get a little mommy time today.  TJ might take the boys somewhere for awhile today.  Whatever am I going to do with myself???

Oh, I forgot.  Our regularly scheduled downsizing will resume after the holidays and in a very systematic fashion.  That is when we start to get down to the bare essentials.  I’m really excited.  We’re ALL excited.

Cafe Press Christmas Card Giveaway

Once upon a time, my brother and I were going to own a t-shirt company.  I  was in Vermont and my brother was living in Washington.  Making t-shirts was a fun way  for us to stay connected across the country.  To make a long story short we opened a Cafe Press store.  (No longer open)  We made all kinds of silly t-shirts and made a few extra dollars to put in our pockets.  It was pretty cool to not have to worry about all that business stuff, and just make up funny designs.  It would work pretty well for Unschooling bumper stickers…  just sayin’.

Cafe Press is an awesome  site for t-shirts, mugs, posters, & unique gifts that you can customize with premade graphics or even upload your own. I just found out that they even have the cutest custom Christmas ornaments and holiday photo cards.  So of course, I made ours!  It’s pretty awesome if I do say so myself. It was also super easy!  The tools on their site made uploading and sizing three pictures as easy as making cupcakes.  I’d say pie…  but I really don’t find pie all that easy to make.

It’s a Holiday Card with a little Halloween flair, right?

Last November Giveaway!

I’m running late today!  Thanksgiving kept us busy and then we all drove to Portland, OR on Saturday to hang out with some fabulous peeps.  Some unschooler friends, some new friends, and some old friends from Vermont were all a part of our awesome weekend away from home.  Today is my last giveaway and I’ve decided to double the handmade goodness!  Today we are offering two fantastic items that would make for great Christmas gifts!

The first comes from Homesewn. By Kelly. Seamstress Extraordinare!  Seriously…  Kelly Hogaboom is one amazingly talented person and you should take a looksy around her website.

From Kelly:

Lots of people ask me how long I’ve been sewing. I’ve been sewing so long I don’t remember not knowing how to sew. That said, I wasn’t a very active seamstress until my mom bought me my first machine in 2001, a white plastic Kenmore that sufficed well enough. In 2007 my mom bought me another machine, a Juki home machine. I Freecycle’d my trusty Kenmore and manual to a local woman and gave her a few lessons to boot.

Today she is offering this Young Blazer in Blue.  Which is a child size 12.

The finished garment is a US child size 12, unisex styled, single-breasted blazer (worn here by my daughter Phoenix, a size 10). The sleeve is two piece and the garment is fully underlined with a soft quilting cotton used also for self-binding – I’ve found traditionally-slick linings sometimes don’t hold up to kidwear.

More info here.

Our second giveaway comes from:

MaterialNana (or Becky) spent close to 40 years in the accounting field until she began showing stroke like symptoms.  Turns out she had TTP and spent a long time in and out of hospitals. She and her doctors realized she would never be able to return to the Accounting Field – so, she decided to try something new.  Thus began her exploration of the artist/crafty side of herself. MaterialNana now makes the only pants her grandson will wear (she understands about the dislike of tags and the need for comfort), has made mei Tais that carried each of her grandchildren in comfort and style and with much love, makes the only curlers her daughter and her granddaughter will wear, not mention she has come to understand and embrace the need for upcycled and re-used items.

Becky is offering one child-size mei tai (for pretend play and dress up only).

This particular mei Tai (child size – for play or dress up or costuming only) is pink Pokemon on one side and My Little Pony on the other.  Each side has a large pocket with lace – for carrying important items – wash cloths, snacks, rocks, leaves, whatever the heart desires.  2 waist straps at 25 inches long each and 2 shoulder straps at 42 inches each.

Winner of The Delight Crochet Giveaway

I’m wrapping up my fourth giveaway today. In case you are wondering how I come to choose a winner, I use an online random number generator. It’s not just ANY random number generator though, instead of using a mathematical equation to arrive at a predetermined number each time, this generator uses atmospheric noise to generate a number that is TRULY random.

This weeks giveaway was offered by:

The winner of the hand-crocheted swiffer sweeper cover is:

#13 Susan

Thanks everybody for participating and be sure to check out Char’s shop for awesome gift ideas this holiday season.  See you next Tuesday for my final giveaway!

Delight Crochet Giveaway!

It’s November 22 and Seattle is experiencing a winter storm.  There is two inches of snow out there and the city is in complete disarray.  Now I can understand, this isn’t normal for here…  but I’m from Vermont.  When it snows…  people go out driving, on purpose!  At least I’m getting a little amusement while I’m sitting home, safe from all those crazy drivers!

Today is my fourth giveaway of the month!  I’m having a giveaway every Tuesday in November and the cool thing about November is that there are 5 Tuesdays!  Aren’t you lucky?!  Today’s is pretty cool, and I can think of several people that would *love* this.

Our giveaway comes from:

Char, the owner of Delight Crochet is a work at home mom and has been a graphic designer/web designer for over a decade.  She has three littles at home and has recently decided to try something a little more crafty, enabling her to engage her children even while working.  She sells hats for all ages, accessories and some kitchen and bath items.  All hand-made and all beautiful!

Today Char is offering for this giveaway one reusable swiffer sweeper cover.  Usually, with a swiffer you have to go out and buy disposable sheets and use harsh cleaners.  But with a cover like this you can wash it again and again and use your favorite gentle cleanser.  Reusable, eco-friendly goodness.

The winner can even choose a color!

Visit Char’s shop

There are 3 ways to win:

1. Leave me a comment, and if you have one,  a neat eco-friendly cleaning tip.

2. Share on Facebook, come back and leave a second comment.

3. Leave me a third comment after you share this on Twitter.
